Colorado State University was first known as Colorado Agricultural College and had its doors open in 1879.  In 1935, CAC took on a new name of Colorado State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts or Colorado A&M.  It wasnt until 1957 when the Colorado General Assembly approved the name change to Colorado State University.
