East Carolina University can trace its roots back to 1907 when the General Assembly passed a an act which stated there would be a Normal College established in Eastern North Carolina.  The doors opened in 1909 with 6 buildings which included dormitories.   ECTTS changed there name once the enrollment passed 1000 students.
