1841 was the start to Baylor University with 35 delegates to the Union Baptist association voting to adopt the suggestion of Re. William Milton Tryon and R.E.B. Baylor to establish a University in Texas.  Some did not like the name of the school wishing it to be San Jacinto.  It wasnt until 1845 when Baylor University was officially established.
