The state of Connecticut is one of 2 states that never ratified the 18th amendment (prohibition).  Connecticut is home to the first hamburger, Polaroid camera, helicopter, and color television.  Connecticut is also home to the oldest U.S. newspaper still being published.  The paper is the Hartford Courant and was established in 1764.  1728 was the when the first steel mill opened and operated in Simsbury, Connecticut.
