The Gray wolf or grey wolf, is a native of Eurasia and North America.  It is the largest extant member of its family.  Males typically weigh 95-120 pounds and the females weigh 79-85 pounds.  The timber wolves are great hunters and they hunt in pacts.  The Gray Wolf is an apex predator with only humans and tigers posing the greatest threat.  Wolves live, hunt and travel in packs of 7-8 wolves on average.  Packs will include the Father and Mother who are known as the alphas, their pups and older offspring.  The Alphas are typically the ones who track and hunt their prey.  The wolves are more active at dusk and dawn and do howl more on lighter lit nights.
