The Detroit Red Wings started their franchise after the 1926 Stanley Cup Playoffs.  They were not called the Red Wings at first due to their purchase of the WHL's players from the Victoria Cougars.  It wasnt until 1932 when Detroit renamed from the Falcons (1930 change) to the Red Wings.
